Emerging new marketing concepts such as online sales, specialized florist outlets and floriculture trade provides newer dimensions in terms of increase consumer demand and propositions.

There are opportunities for production of value added products like dried flowers, wild flowers and for bulbs, tubers and corms. Bees select colorful nutritious flowers for providing best food, they ingest nectar. Hi- tech horticulture practices includes integrated nutrient and pest management, green house, shade net protected cultivation, installation of micro irrigation system, sub surface irrigation system and high density planting mechanization.

The challenges of floral industry is creation of post – harvest infrastructural facilities like collection centers, grading, washing facilities, packing, refrigerated vans, pre-cooling units, cold storage, etc.(combination of 20 kg borax and 2 kg ammonium molybdate). The climate and the environment are disrupting social, economic and technological developments on a global scale. The changing availability of natural resources such as air, water and vegetation are affecting lives of floral industry. These will include, use of genetically modified crop varieties, micro-propagation, integrated nutrient and water management, integrated pest management, protected cultivation, organic farming, use of modern immune-diagnostic techniques for quick detection of viral diseases and hi-tech post-harvest technologies, including cold chain.

High density planting, Leaf analysis, particularly in perennial crops, offers a means of assessing nutritional requirements. Micro-irrigation has proved its efficacy in saving water and improving yield, Human Resource Development for hi-tech projects, Mechanization and Automation in Horticultural Crop Products, A suitable mechanism to safeguard the interest of the Indian growers and consumers needs to be evolved.

Indian markets, suitable training needs to be imparted to all those involved in the cyber trading. Fragmented landholdings in all the states of the country, contract farming/cooperative/consolidated farming needs to be encouraged, need to develop organized market base.

Options open to the farmers to cultivate a variety of flowers available as per the location of the field, soil and climatic conditions and ultimately the market demands.
